Hebei Longhua Mountainous Area Landfill Seepage Prevention Project
Project location:Longhua, Hebei Province, China
Project background: The landfill is located in a typical mountainous terrain with steep slopes (maximum slope exceeding 1:1.5), and smooth geomembrane easily causes sliding risk. The project needs to solve key technical difficulties such as the stability of laying on steep slopes and terrain adaptability.

Project solution: HDPE geomembrane textured— its high friction between the material and the base soil can effectively resist sliding on steep slopes. Meanwhile, it can be combined with a rough surface structure better. These characteristics make the material better suited for working in mountainous areas.
Project construction key points:
- Topographic Survey: Obtain accurate data on slope terrain, gradient, elevation, etc. The stability of steep slopes is the primary factor for assessment.
- Geological Survey: Understand the geological composition of the slope body (rock and soil types and stability). To make sure whether there is a risk of landslides, groundwater conditions, etc.
- Climatic Conditions: Notice the weather during construction to avoid operations during adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, strong winds, etc.
- Laying Direction:
- The laying direction of the rolls should be along the direction of the maximum slope of the slope (from top to bottom), in order to minimize horizontal joints.
- It is strictly prohibited to lay from bottom to top to prevent the material from slipping.
Attention: For slope stability, it must be evaluated by a professional geotechnical engineer. Unstable slopes must first be reinforced (such as with anchor rods, retaining walls, etc.), otherwise, a general landslide may leading to the failure of the project.

Project Conclusion:
After the project was completed, the third-party testing was conducted:
- The membrane material slope displacement is less than 2mm/year (standard requirement ≤5mm)
- The leachate collection rate has been increased to 99.7%
- The expected service life exceeds 35 years
