Chongqing Roadbed Siphon Drainage Board Project

Project background: Most area of Chongqing is located in mountains. Due to the long service life, the original passive natural drainage facilities of some roads in a certain county can no longer meet the requirements, which is prone to cause water clogging and ponding on the road surface, then it may lead driving risks and reduce the durability of the road.
Project solution: Siphone drainage board
The "siphon drainage board" is an innovative polymer drainage material. Its core structure is a convex cup-shaped supporting three-dimensional space. The convex points provide high-strength support, ensuring the stability of the drainage space. The "siphon" effect principle refers to the combination of sealed drainage space, negative pressure and gravity with filtering materials, which accelerates the collection and drainage speed of rainwater, making it more efficient than traditional drainage methods.

To address the issue of insufficient seepage and drainage capacity of the existing system, our construction team strictly follow the standardized construction process:
- Subgrade cleaning and preparation: Clean the subgrade surface of silt, gravel, and other sharp debris to ensure the subgrade is flat and firm.
- Drainage board layout and connection: On the qualified subgrade, lay the siphon drainage board according to the design. The boards are connected in tight overlap, ensuring the integrity of the drainage layer and the continuity of water flow.
- Geotextile covering and backfilling: Above the drainage board system, cover with our geotextile filter layer. It can effectively prevent the particles of the upper fill soil from entering and blocking the drainage channels. Subsequently, backfill the subgrade materials in layers and compact them.
- Final acceptance: After construction, a strict acceptance is conducted. The flatness, firmness, integrity and the quality of key node connections are needing second confirmation. Besides, conducting a partial water test to verify the smoothness and drainage efficiency of the overall system.

Project conclusion:
Through the application of the siphon drainage board system, this project successfully achieved the active and efficient drainage. It significantly alleviates the accumulating of surface water during the flood season. Under the proper maintenance in the later stage, the expected service life can reach 10-15 years, providing a long-term and reliable drainage capacity for the road structure there.
