Three-Dimensional Composite Drainage Net: Three-Dimensional Structure

Three-Dimensional Composite Drainage Net

The three-dimensional composite drainage net is manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Ribs are extruded through a special die. Three ribs are arranged at specific spacing and angles to form a three-dimensional structure with drainage channels. The middle rib has high rigidity and forms rectangular drainage passages.

The three rib layers provide high tensile strength in both longitudinal and transverse directions, as well as high compressive strength. The drainage channels formed between the layers resist deformation under high loads, ensuring continuous drainage. According to application requirements, the product is available in high-strength and high-transmissivity types.

Main Performance and Applications

  1. Three-dimensional composite drainage net can be installed between the subgrade and roadbase to drain water, block capillary water and lead it to edge drainage systems. This helps extend pavement service life.
  2. When three-dimensional composite drainage net is placed within the road, it can prevents fine particles from the roadbase from migrating into the subgrade, and provides a separation function. Aggregate from the base course may partially enter the upper layer of the geonet. The structure also limits lateral movement of the aggregate to a certain extent, similar to the reinforcement effect of a geogrid. In general, its tensile strength and stiffness are comparable to many geogrids used for subgrade reinforcement. This restraint improves the bearing capacity of the foundation.
  3. After pavement aging and crack formation, most rainwater enters the pavement structure. In such cases, the drainage net can be installed directly beneath the pavement to replace a permeable base. This structure extends the service life of both rigid and flexible pavement systems.
  4. In cold climates, installation of the three-dimensional composite drainage net helps reduce frost heave. Where freezing depth is large, the geonet can be placed at a shallow position within the base course to block capillary action. This limits ice lens growth and allows traffic loads to be maintained during spring thaw in cold regions.
