How to Distinguish Between High-Quality and Low-Quality Composite Films?
Composite geomembrane is a composite type of geosynthetics. It is formed by thermal compounding process, making fabric onto the surface of a geomembrane and creating a three-layer composite structure. This allows the composite geomembrane has the protective, filtering and drainage functions of geotextile fabric with its excellent impermeability.
Currently, engineering projects needing composite geomembranes often involve significant environmental safety and protection, which give serious requirements to material selection. However, compared to single materials, raw material deception easily happen to the production of composite geomembranes. Because in the three-layer structure, the geomembrane in the middle layer and covered by geotextile. It is difficult for buyers to determine its quality.
The following are two comparative images for reference.

As in the first figure, the left image show the impermeable layer in a low-quality composite geomembrane. If not made from virgin raw materials, its mechanical performance and chemical resistance cannot meet the long-term service life requirements of middle or large projects. Finally it will be cracked, powdered and brittle.

In this image shows an impermeable layer made from new HDPE virgin resin of Zhonglong, which appears semi-transparent and no impurities. It’s density and performance fully meet national requirements. Moreover, by adding carbon black stabilizers, its durability in extreme environments for extended periods can be further enhanced.
Therefore, when consumers or project procurement personnel are selecting composite geomembrane, they must be clear that it is produced with virgin raw materials to ensure the reliability of the final product.
