How to Construct an Effective Landfill Protective Barrier
Landfill is a common large-scale resource recycling environmental engineering project in daily life. To prevent various types of contaminated liquids from penetrating into the natural soil layer, it is crucial to do a good job in the bottom's impermeability and drainage. Therefore, environmental geosynthetic materials are good choices.

The impermeability and waterproofing of a landfill site are quite different from that of a pond or a roof:
First, a large amount of garbage forms small hills of dozens or even hundreds of meters, creating great pressure, and the mixture of strong acidity, strong alkalinity, and organic pollutants produces complex leachate, which applies an extreme environment.
In addition, the service life of a landfill site after completion can last for several decades, requiring the product material and performance to have long-term stability and durability, and the construction process must be strictly controlled.
Finally, a single product protection cannot cope with unexpected situations. Modern landfills often adopt a composite barrier structure of "main impermeable layer + secondary impermeable layer + protective layer + leachate collection system", with multiple layers of protection ensuring safety.

1. Main impermeable layer: Directly in contact with the garbage, it needs extremely high durability and stability, so HDPE geotextile membrane is selected as the main impermeable layer. Its excellent physical and chemical properties can fully meet the needs of extreme environments.
2. Secondary impermeable layer: Laid under the HDPE geotextile membrane as an auxiliary barrier, or used in anchor trenches and other areas for reinforcement, it has water-absorbing gelation waterproofing and self-repairing capabilities.
3. Protective layer: Used to prevent foreign objects from puncturing the HDPE geotextile membrane, achieving a certain level of drainage and filtration. Non-woven geotextile fabric can protect the membrane and isolate and filter sand and stone, effectively extending the service life of the entire system.
4. Leachate collection layer: For scenarios requiring high load capacity and stable drainage, we use three-dimensional composite drainage nets to achieve rapid collection and drainage of leachate. At the same time, the three-dimensional mesh structure can provide a stable water passage cross-section and water flow capacity.

Modern landfills form a system ("net - textile - membrane - mat") through these four functional structures, achieving efficient, stable, and durable protection barriers.
